SUMMARY The Technical Accountant/Accounting Project Manager will be responsible for wide-ranging projects within the controllership function. This role will report to the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting; however, the duties of the project manager will, typically, be outside the quarterly close and reporting cycle. The position is not expected, at least in the short to medium term, to have direct reports but will operate in coordination with the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting team as well as other controllership teams (Shared Services, Record to Report, Financial Systems), depending on the projects being managed. This position can be remote.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.-- Lead the roll out of company-wide accounting policies with a focus on driving effective collaboration across the global business.-- Independently plan, lead, and execute on complex controllership projects, including business combinations, which would necessitate fostering a team-driven environment, providing clear business communication, integration and change management support.-- Create and maintain master list of all Controllership projects - including those managed by other teams that affect Controllership.-- Develop strong peer and stakeholder relationships, maintaining effective communication channels.-- Prepare detailed analyses, plans, milestones, deliverables, and overall status updates.-- Proactively manage risk, anticipate potential issues, and implement appropriate mitigations.-- Support strategic goals to improve and drive controllership efficiency and effectiveness to deliver global consistency, scalability, and accountability.-- Assist in the dissemination of information to the organization regarding soon-to-be or newly issued accounting pronouncements from FASB as well as soon-to-be or newly issued SEC regulatory guidance.-- Maintain in-depth knowledge of ASC 606 and ASC 842.-- Assist the technical accounting team, when needed, with writing technical accounting memos on complex transactions.-- Maintain focus on continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES -- None QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE-- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field preferred-- 5+ years Big 4 experience, including project management and technical accounting experience and education-- Excellent project management skills-- Exceptional communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels of senior management-- Experience with Workiva is preferred CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS -- CPA preferred COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)-- Demonstrable track record of managing cross-functional projects to achieve critical business initiatives-- Exceptional communication, presentation, active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills-- A solid understanding of project methodology and how to apply it to real world situations-- Excellent interpersonal skills, an interest in working hard, are flexible and enjoy being challenged in a fast-paced environment-- Knowledge of recent industry developments-- Ability to think critically and creatively to contribute to a team environment-- Experience with complex transactions including business combinations, equity transactions, and divestitures-- Excellent skills in writing accounting policies and desk procedures, including organizing and running stakeholder reviews for organizational implementation with SOX cross functionality-- Strong FASB background, including ASC 606 and 842 operational experiences-- Experience with SEC reporting processes, including familiarity with SEC requirements-- Experience with integration activities, including business combination integration-- Highly adept at using Microsoft office-- Strong time-management skills; excellent follow up skills required
