formed in 1969 to save the historic -Ohio Theatre -(Columbus) from
the wrecking ball. After the theatre was saved, CAPA renovated the
magnificent 1928 movie palace to its original glory. It was then
that CAPA became the leaders in theatre rehabilitation and downtown
redevelopment. -Since then, CAPA has adopted Columbus' -Palace
Theatre -and -Southern Theatre, and manages the Riffe Center
Theatres, the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, CT, and the Lincoln
Theatre. -One unique aspect of CAPA is its shared service business
model, offering personalized back-office services to local arts
organizations. While each agreement is tailored to fit each
organization's needs, some of these services include -marketing,
ticketing, management, operations, finance, publicity, human
resources, IT, and development. CAPA's shared services partners
include: American Public Gardens Association (APGA), -Contemporary
American Theatre Company (CATCO), -Columbus Cultural Leadership
Consortium (CCLC), the -Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO), the
Drexel Theatre, -Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens,
-Leadership Columbus, the Lincoln Theatre, Opera Columbus, the
Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts and Hinson
Amphitheater, the Shubert Theatre, and the Short North Stage.Since
its inception in 1969, CAPA has achieved international recognition
for the diversity of the performing arts and entertainment
programming it presents, the dramatic restoration of historic
theatres, excellence in facility management, and positive
contributions to the quality of life in downtown Columbus.Primary
Function -The Director of Production oversees stage operations at
all CAPA owned and managed facilities in Central Ohio, including
the Ohio, Palace, Southern, Lincoln, and Riffe Center Theatres, the
Columbus Commons Bicentennial Pavilion, and the Jeanne B. McCoy
Community Center for the Arts and the Hinson Amphitheater in New
Albany. The Director of Production oversees the day-to-day
production responsibilities for events at Columbus Commons and
works with theatre stage managers (Technical Directors & Head
Carpenters) to manage all other CAPA owned stages and stage
personnel. Additional Information:This is a full-time, exempt
position. The selected candidate will be eligible for CAPA benefits
offered to full-time employees, including Medical, Dental, and
Vision insurance, a $50,000 company-paid life insurance policy,
AD&D/STD/LTD, Employee Assistance Program, eligibility to
participate in a 403(b) retirement plan with up to 5% company match
after 6 months which is immediately vested, subsidized parking at

access to complimentary tickets to shows.Duties and
Responsibilities -
- Schedules full-time stage personnel at all CAPA owned and
managed venues to ensure optimization of their guaranteed hours of
work. -
- Oversees the inventory control system to maintain appropriate
inventory of all stage and production supplies and equipment.

- Manages the maintenance and replacement schedule for stage
equipment on CAPA owned and managed stages, including a yearly
budget.
- Works with product vendors to negotiate purchases/rentals of
production and stage equipment. -
- Oversees the execution of the collective bargaining agreement
between Capitol South Community Urban Redevelopment
Corporation/Columbus Commons, CAPA and IATSE, where
applicable.
- Serves as a liaison with union representatives regarding labor
personnel or contract issues. -
- Ensures stage employees follow Columbus Commons and CAPA safety
guidelines.
- Works with CAPA Human Resources and the Director of Columbus
Commons to hire as needed stage personnel to cover work needed in
CAPA owned and managed venues.
- Ensures coverage of full-time stage personnel in the event of a
vacation, sickness, or emergency.
- Supervises full-time Technical Directors, Head Carpenters, and
Employer Assigned Department Heads (EADHs), including training,
mentoring, performance management, and payroll submission and
approval.
- Manages as-needed union and non-union employees.
- Works with rental clients to ensure their events on CAPA owned
and managed stages are successful.
- Advises on Production/Technical needs for Columbus Commons' and
CAPA's special events, including the Gala, Annual Meeting, Holiday
Displays, and more.
- Serves as a technical manager for Columbus Commons and CAPA
produced events including concerts, performances, festivals, awards
events, the Movie Series, and Christmas Carol. -
- Assists the Director of Columbus Commons, Vice President of
Operations, the Vice President of Programming, and other CAPA
departments with special projects as needed. -
- Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities -
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. -
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. -
- Advanced knowledge of live performance technology is required,
including lighting, sound, video and rigging systems. -
- Strong leadership, personnel, and labor relations skills, with
the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff,
vendors, and clients. -
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to foresee
issues and develop proactive solutions. -
- Ability to meet the following physical requirements, with or
without accommodation: moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds,
walking up to 4 hours per day, and sitting for extended periods of
time. Credentials and Experience -
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred, or an
equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 6+ years' experience of relevant professional, technical, and
supervisory experience in live performance productions. -
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and
