We will be sistering with regional, national, and international institutions to further this focus.Job DescriptionThe College of Fine Arts and the School of Art + Design at Ohio University invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position to teach undergraduate and graduate design studio and lecture courses across existing and developing curriculum in Graphic Design and to work on new program development, with potential for leadership in the area of design. The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate experience in teaching, designing, implementing, and administering new curriculum tracks, with an interest in interdisciplinary engagement with areas across the university, such as programs within Visual Communications, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Business. In addition, this position will build enrollment in the Fine Arts with a focus on developing Design program recruiting initiatives. The successful candidate(s) must also demonstrate strength in strategic communication, with a high level of organizational skills.We seek a candidate(s) with a commitment to working effectively with all levels of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. We also seek a candidate who will work successfully in coordination with School, College, and University initiatives. Position beginning in August 2022.Responsibilities:The successful candidate(s) will be hired to teach a course load commensurate with job responsibilities across the course of the academic year and will serve effectively as an advisor for students. Teaching emphasis is in undergraduate and graduate design studio and lecture courses across existing and developing curriculum in Graphic Design. They must also be able to work with program faculty in developing and delivering courses as outlined by the School, including new and online courses. Additionally, the successful candidate(s) will serve effectively to oversee the finalization of new design curriculum, including its implementation, staffing, and recruitment strategies. Assistance with auxiliary programs, such as, summer programs (in coordination with the Summer Programs Director) and with community engagement and cross-college initiatives (in coordination with the College's Center for Collaborative Arts) is also expected. Participation on School, College and/or University Committees will also be required.Minimum Qualificationsa terminal degree in Graphic Design, or related fields; professional design practice experience; and significant teaching experiencePreferred Qualifications Experience with overseeing curriculum and/or program development in Graphic Design or related programs and/or current involvement in curriculum design. Demonstrated administrative experience within design or related fields.
