We hire top talent who shares our values! /n /n The Role /n /n The Design Technician works in partnership with the Project Engineer and Design Engineer for delivery of BlastOne Integrated & Automated Solutions projects. Design Technicians will support project through the phase and ensure a smooth technical transition to delivery. /n /n The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, models, and documentation used in the design, fabrication, and assembly of mechanical components and systems. Working under the direction of engineers and project managers, this role transforms design concepts, sketches, and specifications into precise 2D and 3D drawings that meet industry standards and company requirements. Reporting to the Manager of Project & Process Engineering, this role is also responsible for ensuring the project follows the BlastOne standards and Engineering Workflow for stage gates and reviews. As part of these duties, forecasting of work hours to completion and managing adherence to schedule are critical for project success. /n /n - Prepare accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using CAD software. /n - Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and notes to produce detailed designs. /n - Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards. /n - Collaborate with engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to ensure drawings are feasible for production. /n - Apply knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances to ensure practicality of designs. /n - Maintain organized drawing files, records, and documentation in accordance with company procedures. /n - Perform basic design calculations as needed to support drafting activities. /n - Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO). /n - Support prototype development and assist in resolving design-related issues during manufacturing. /n /n Required Skills/Qualifications /n /n - Associate degree, diploma, or certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related technical discipline. /n - 2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design support (preferred). /n - Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software. /n - Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), and technical drawing conventions. /n - Familiarity with materials (metals, plastics, composites) and basic manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, fabrication, welding, etc.). /n - Experience producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintaining document control. /n - Knowledge of applicable standards and codes (ASME, ANSI, ISO). /n /n - Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, and production staff. /n - Prior exposure to PLM systems or engineering document management systems (a plus). /n - Technical Accuracy – Produces precise, error-free drawings and models that meet specifications. /n - Attention to Detail – Identifies inconsistencies or errors in drawings and corrects them promptly. /n - CAD Proficiency – Demonstrates advanced skills in 2D drafting and 3D modeling software. /n - Design Interpretation – Accurately translates engineering sketches, notes, and verbal instructions into detailed designs. /n - Manufacturing Awareness – Understands how designs impact manufacturability and assembly processes. /n - Time Management – Effectively prioritizes tasks and meets project deadlines. /n - Problem-Solving – Provides practical drafting solutions to design or production challenges. /n - Collaboration – Works effectively with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel to achieve project goals. /n - CAD Best Practices – Checks in drawings/models (e.g., PDM/PLM systems); demonstrates disciplined feature tree management and sound mating practices to ensure model integrity. /n - Adaptability – Adjusts quickly to design changes, evolving project requirements, and multiple priorities. /n - Documentation & Organization – Maintains thorough and well-structured drawing files, records, and revision histories. /n /n The Perks working at BlastOne /n /n /n - Great family culture with a meaningful mission /n - Flexible time off /n - Generous 401k policy /n - Industry leading Health Insurance & benefits program /n - Ability to put your personal stamp on the success of a company /n - Incredible opportunities to grow within the company and the industry, both your responsibilities and compensation /n /n /n Personality / Core Value Requirements /n BlastOne is a unique company.
