PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Non-Woven (NW) Design Engineer provides technical design leadership with respect to the asset base of the North American Non-Woven technologies platform. This role will include technical aspects of the entire production line, including Wet End process, Ovens/Dryers, Coating Process, and Winders/Unwinders. As a member of the NW global support team, the Engineer is a recognized subject matter expert that demonstrates teamwork and a high-performance commitment to the success of Owens Corning. This position reports to the Composites business Capital Delivery Engineering Leader and will support the Non-Woven Technical team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Owens Corning safety culture that every employee is responsible for safety.

Knowing the Asset Base & Manufacturing Processes

Continuously build insight and intimate knowledge of Non-Woven processes, products, product uses and key customers. Understand what is necessary for the assets to be productive and the value that current and future assets bring to the business. Stay abreast of developments regarding competitors' production assets and capabilities.

Strategy Development

Contribute to the development of the NW strategy by providing the following business segment insights:

        • Understand and communicate corporate vision and objectives.
        • Assist with the development of scopes and budgets for growth initiatives.
        • Provide technical input to investment risk and potential business impact discussions along with risk mitigation action options.
        • Provide technical input to resource and investments recommendations to achieve the NW business plan.
        • Explore full potential of partner capabilities and skillsets to align partner ability with desired business outcome. Executing Strategy and Design
          • Provide best-in class design for wet laid continuous mat line process and coating processes including:
            • Coating process
            • Stock preparation, thin stock delivery, and trim handling systems
            • Ovens/dryers
            • Winders/unwinders
            • Quality measurement systems
            • Support large, complex capital projects by applying expertise and best practices to define, execute, and fully own project plans from inception-to-delivery.
              • Design safe, ergonomically sound and environmentally friendly production process improvements that positively impact health and safety while minimizing the environmental footprint of the facility.
              • Develop and forecast project plans and budgets to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
                • Provide cost effective production processes that allow OC to effectively compete in the marketplace.
                • Partner with process innovation teams to support the development new technologies and applications.
                • Manage technical and process changes to ensure consistent delivery of best practices, ensure project benefits are achieved, and project outcomes are sustainable. JOB REQUIREMENTS

                  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
                  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
                  • 5 years of experience in process equipment design, engineering, and/or optimization
                  • Ability to travel 20-30% KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
                    • Ability to work both independently and with a team
                    • Willingness to work hands-on in the lab
                    • Close attention to detail for accurate data collection and reporting
                    • Ability to collaborate directly with a diverse group of peers, Engineers, Scientists, and other team members to complete a project
                    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
