Be the reason we help millions of consumers build a brighter financial future and achieve yours along the way with a rewarding career. -As a Senior Associate Infrastructure Engineer (Network), you'll deliver highly available, scalable, and diverse network infrastructure to facilitate key business functions at Discover. At the corner of our industry's best practices and an automation security-first mindset, lies your project work. You'll leverage both to ensure we deliver data quickly and securely. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management. - -Shift: Sunday - Thursday: 3rd shift - 10pm ET - 7am ET / 9pm CT - 6am CT (Including weekend coverage) -Responsibilities -

  • Responsible for operating, administering, and managing the day-to-day Network operations of a large scale global mixed media network communications environment supporting mission critical customer applications. Serves in a tier 1 role that proactively monitors, analyzes alarm information, initiates corrective actions to promptly isolate issues, restore service, implements changes, and provides analysis and consultation to peers.
  • Monitors the Data Network for performance degradation, connectivity issues, system events and alerts. Updates and manages tickets through resolution with vendors and internal support groups.
  • Tests, analyzes, performs corrective actions, and restores network equipment and services in a timely and accurate manner to eliminate/reduce application impact.
  • Provides timely notifications to management/outage team and escalates tickets to appropriate internal and external management as needed.
  • Responds to engagements from the Command Centers and provide network analysis to determine network availability.
  • Creates and implements data network changes.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance tasks and creates, maintains, updates NOC support documentation.
  • Executes increasing variety of user stories with different contexts across the different stages of the product lifecycle. -
  • Uses automation, system tools, open-source solutions, observability and 'security first' principles in daily work. -
  • Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms. -
  • Comfortably implements solutions using automation, observability, and security principles. -
  • Engages in adoption of new technology. -
  • Continues professional education; learns key product capabilities and has desire to learn higher levels of craftsmanship in day-to-day engineering tasks. -
    • Leadership Responsibilities:
      • Is accountable for individual assignments and an element of work group's results.
        • Task Complexity:
          • Works on complex projects. Highly skilled with extensive proficiency. Tasks are varied and complex.
            • Amount of Supervision:
              • Works under limited supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall timeliness and accuracy.Minimum Qualifications -At a minimum, here's what we need from you: -
                • Bachelors - Computer Science or related -
                • 1+ Years - (Software) Engineering, DevOps or related -
                • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of advanced beginner on the Dreyfus engineering scale - -Preferred Qualifications -Bonus Points If You Have: -
                  • -Cisco Industry Certification - CCNA or higher
                  • ITIL foundations, or related certification
                  • Demonstrated experience with Incident, Change & Problem Management processes.
                  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting network issues related to Cisco route/switch, Vendor circuits, VPN and Out-of-Band connectivity.
                  • Demonstrated experience with Network Monitoring Systems & Tools such as Solarwinds, Netscout nGeniusOne, Netscout Pulse, Wireshark, Splunk and others.
                  • Knowledge of Network Security products such as Palo Alto Networks, Bricata, Broadcom
                  • Network Automation skills such as Ansible, Git & scripting tools
                  • ServiceNow Reporting, Knowledge, and Process Management
