Uses machine tools and measuring instruments to make, repair, and
refurbish machined parts and assemblies according to blueprint and
procedural specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or
sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of
operations, and setup requirements. - Sets up and operates all
machine tool equipment independently. - Selects, aligns, and
secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and
materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders,
and shapers. - Calculates and sets controls for machining factors
like speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut. - Observes
machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance
machining, adjusts controls as needed. - Verifies conformance of
finished workpiece to specifications. - Develops specifications
from general descriptions and sketches parts/products to be
fabricated. - Confers with engineers, production personnel, or
others to resolve machining or assembly problems. - Uses safety
equipment and practices safe machine operation. - Follows safety
procedures, reports accidents or safety issues to the Manager. -
Reads and follows Material Safety Data Sheets for all products
used. - Keeps detailed records for timekeeping, logbooks, and shift
communications. - Learns and uses the Kanban system. - Performs
preventive maintenance and daily lubrication on machines. -
Provides own tools as per the Tool List and maintains them in good
condition. - Reports tool or equipment problems to the Manager
immediately. - Keeps work area and equipment clean. Lincoln
