Job Description Summary: The senior Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will provide system level leadership to all APPs including nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistants (PA), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), and certified nurse midwives (CNM) in collaboration with operations and practice managers and will be responsible for the organization and support of the department of advanced clinical practice. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree: Physician AssistantAPRN - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License - State of Ohio Board of Nursing, PA - Physician Assistant - National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants Reports To: VPMA of OPG, with matrix reporting to COO of OPG, CNE and the Director of OPG clinical services Purpose Statement: The senior Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will provide system level leadership to all APPs including nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistants (PA), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), and certified nurse midwives (CNM) in collaboration with operations and practice managers and will be responsible for the organization and support of the department of advanced clinical practice. Job Summary: This position is responsible for the system-wide leadership, direction and oversight of the Department of advanced clinical practice, with highly matrixed reporting relationships throughout the system. The Senior Director of Advanced Clinical Practice serves as the organizations subject matter expert on advanced practice. In partnership with operational and clinical leadership, will lead and support advanced clinical practice and APPs/APP leaders in their professional development, ensuring all regulatory, accreditation and clinical standards are met; and identifying, measuring and evaluating clinical and department outcomes. The Senior Director will provide leadership at the highest organizational level and will help coordinate and facilitate practice standards for all APPs across the system. Minimum Qualifications: Master's preparation as a PA or an APRN. Licensed in Ohio as an APRN or PA. The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as an APP. In addition, 5 years of broad experience managing or leading programs or departments. Specialized Knowledge: Experience with accrediting bodies and knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. Understanding of (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) CMS and professional billing and practice standards. Knowledge of current trends in PA and APRN practice as well as current knowledge of theory of healthcare delivery and systems. Possess and maintain full knowledge of all requirements of advanced practice positions, roles, and requirements of practice; competencies, certifications, state and board of nursing and medicine regulations and licensing. Able to foster relationships with hospital administration, APPs, physicians and other leaders. Desired Attributes: Either : DNP or equivalent; MHA, or MBA level education. The leadership experience of the candidate should include work in a complex, matrixed healthcare structure. This includes both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Able to provide leadership and promote change in a positive manner that supports all APP leaders and APPs. Able to independently seek out resources and solve complex problems under stressful situations. Communicate effectively with APRNs, PAs, service Line Directors and other hospital personnel regarding program growth and activities. Responsibilities and Duties: Full-time administrative work with no requirement of clinical component. Understanding of Advanced clinical practice on a state and national level. This includes representation of OhioHealth on key topics and communication of legislative changes to APPs within the system. Coordination and development of the system APP council and liaison to campus APP councils. Coach, develop and mentor new and existing APP leadership. Oversight of frontline management including pay authorization, TAP time, evaluations and metric development. Representation of advanced practice at New Provider Orientation. Interface collaboratively with care site VMPAs. Budget of advanced clinical practice on a system level. Oversight into provider workforce planning (PWP) and partnering with academic programs to increase availability of professionals to meet strategic goals. Oversight of the Quality Improvement (QI), Formal Professional Performance Evaluation (FPPE), Ongoing Professional Performance Evaluation (OPPE) processes. System committee representation as appropriate, including the Allied Health Delineation of Privilege (DOP) committee. Participate in reviewing and updating medical staff bylaws pertinent to APP practice and APP delineation of privileges documents.
