Job Description:
We are looking for Controls Engineering Manager to join our team!
Responsibilities The Controls Engineering Manager leads a team of
skilled control engineers and electrical technicians responsible
for development and maintenance of equipment controls systems
throughout the ADS network of plants. This position has
comprehensive knowledge of the manufacturing equipment and
processes as well as the needs of the business to develop the right
technical solutions for ADS manufacturing. The Controls Engineering
Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of superior
equipment, from internal and external sources, with safe and
intuitive controls systems that meet the ADS needs of today and
supports the needs of the future. The Controls Engineering Manager
will coordinate with their team to support needs of the plants
trouble shooting and diagnosing equipment electrical concerns.
Primary Job Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position
include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises and trains all personal required for the operation
of the Controls Engineering department and its function
- Mentor and develop the Controls Engineering team
- Monitor, enhance, recommend, implement, and maintain the
equipment controls replacement program for ADS
- Works with various teams to develop a prioritized equipment
rebuild/replacement strategy
- Works closely with the Plant and Engineering teams to ensure
all work meets the needs of stakeholders
- Works with his team to develop and maintain a harmonious
working relationship with the other departments and plant
teams
- Partners with third party contractors to support ADS's
equipment control requirements
- Identifies technology advancement opportunities and assists
with their implementation
- Research and recommend training programs for key technical
personal supporting production equipment control systems and
motors
- Designs electrical enclosures, sub-panel layouts, and wiring
diagrams to align with UL/CUL/CSA certifications and NFPA79 wiring
standards
- Works with project originators, as needed, to ensure the scope
of work is properly defined and the sequence of operation is
captured
- Maintains software, programs, drawings, and files by keeping
them current and accurate
- Develops electrical panel designs and conducts panel design
reviews with team
- Works with the various ADS teams to schedule, coordinate, and
install equipment and equipment upgrades
- Develops PLC, HMI, Drive & etc. programs for the various
assigned projects
- Provide startup training on Controls that is easily understood
at the production operator and plant maintenance levels
- Verify creation of the necessary scope and bill of materials
for work performed
- Support plant root cause analysis efforts tied to motors,
drives, and electrical systems
- Provide local and remote support to the plants
- Assists in acceptance testing and debugging of equipment from
OEM's
- Develop and deploy policies, standards, and procedures
supporting engineering technical work
- Conducts the necessary machine & panel acceptance testing based
on the scope of work
- Direct recruitment, placement, & evaluation of Controls
Engineering and Technician teams Job Skills:
- Strong organizational, analytical, & systematic problem-solving
skills
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of bringing projects
in on-time and within budget
- Familiarity and ability to comply with all applicable rules,
regulations, best practices, and performance standards
- Aptitude for working collaboratively with multiple disciplines
within teams and projects
- Experience troubleshooting electrical components, AC/DC
motors/drives, & PLC's
- Modifying and creating PLC & HMI programs for the following
manufacturers:
- Allen Bradley
- Siemens
- Automation Direct
- Reading and creating electrical diagrams, panel layouts, & etc.
using ACAD or ACAD Electrical
- Familiar with:
- Allen Bradley - RSLogix 5, 500 & 5000.
- Panel Builder & Factory Talk View.
- Automation Direct - DirectSoft 5 & C-More
- Siemens - Step 7, ProTool, WinCC Software Educational
Requirements:
- BS Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Masters degree desirable Preferred Experience:
- 8 + years of manufacturing experience, preferably tied to the
plastics industry
- 2 + years of designing electrical control systems
- 2 + years of managing engineers support manufacturing Physical
Requirements:
- The ability to effectively work on and around equipment as
required
- Kneeling or sitting in front of electrical panels to verify
control wiring accuracy and quality
- Able to lift 25 lbs. or less as required
- Standing for long periods of time on concreate flooring in a
production environment
