(Open)Job Description:At Greif, everything we do is focused on
helping our customers safely package and protect their goods to
serve the essential needs of communities around the world. Greif's
Global Supply Chain (GSC) team plays a key role to ensure a healthy
flow of data and material across the network. The Global Trade
Compliance Manager is responsible for developing and executing
Greif's new way of working across our supply chain in partnership
with other functions to comply with Global Trade regulations,
eliminate penalties and delays, and find performance opportunities.
This is true across business units and geographic regions.Key
Responsibilities:Policies & Procedures (Strategic):Map existing
processes, roles, and tools used in trade compliance. Identify gaps
in coverage and capabilities, establish a plan for organizational
development and improvement of trade-related awareness and
understandingCreate and maintain import/export policies and
guidelines, ensuring current and thorough knowledge of relevant
regulations, laws, and upcoming changesDeveloping and implementing
internal trade compliance controls and procedures associated with
the entry, classification, valuation, country of origin of imported
and exported manufacturing raw materials and equipment, and related
recordkeeping practicesPerforming periodic checks necessary to
determine the level of compliance, developing and conducting annual
risk assessments to identify risks to compliance, implementing
corrective actions in response to errors and internal control
weaknesses disclosed by self-testingPeriodically deliver training
on trade compliance topics to internal stakeholders. Responsible
for creation, management, and assignment of Trade compliance
training content to global employeesSubject Matter Expert
(Tactical):Manage the daily import/export compliance and
requirements for global trade transactions by working with
colleagues, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to ensure
timely clearanceProvide shipment clearance instructions on
import/export transactions to internal and external contacts,
ensuring full compliance with global trade regulationsSupport trade
compliance vetting of new/potential contract suppliers and service
providersSelect, qualify, onboard, oversee, and measure performance
of customs brokersKnowledge of Free Trade Agreements, including
USMCA, AUSFTA, KORUSSystems Management:Partnering with teams to
gather trade compliance requirements, facilitating testing, rolling
out new functionalities to systems, and handling
post-implementation audit and process improvementFacilitate
creation, management, and maintenance of manufacturing raw
materials' trade master data in ERP system, including Harmonized
Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes, Export Control Classifications (ECCN)
and country of originResponsible for commercial raw material trade
data integrity - collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, and
quality teams to gather necessary information for raw material
tariff determinationSupply HTS, ECCN classifications and country of
origin to Master Data Management team during new material
introduction process in ERP system Education and Experience:A
relevant education at Bachelor's or Master's level is a related
field (sustainability, supply chain, environmental management)5+
years in various Trade Compliance roles Knowledge and
Skills:Technical expertise:Certified Customs Specialist (C.C.S.)
designation or Licensed Customs Broker (L.C.B.) requiredGood
communicator, able to convince senior leaders in the
organizationGood understanding of end-to-end supply chain process,
risk management, logistics & transportProven track record to lead
colleagues in a geographically diverse organizationRegulatory
knowledge of CFR19, FTR, EARExtensive experience writing
comprehensive, well-constructed Standard Operating ProceduresExport
controls and classification process (Deemed Exports, Sanctions,
Anti-boycott, Restricted Party Screening)Export control
classification process (ECCN#), export licensing determination
process, Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) and EEI (electronic Export
Information) filing complianceProficiency with ERP systems and
other relevant technologiesUniversity degree in supply chain
management/business administration preferredPrior management and
supervisory experience preferredPersonal qualities:Good verbal and
written communication skills to be able to explain compliance
requirements and risks to stakeholders outside of trade
complianceAgile, comfortable with a very fast pace, working well
under pressureAlways keep a pulse on multiple priorities in
parallel. Well organized and discipled to effectively manage,
deliver results, and stay on top of all tasksAbility to influence
others - to inform and convince others to take action on key
initiativesAbility to take initiative and work autonomously, as
well as in a teamDemonstrate a passion for knowledge and continuous
improvementStrong facilitation and project management skills
Regarding new solutions and capabilities, preference is to quickly
develop-test-improve-iteratePossesses strong analytical skills
Ability to speak and write fluently in English required.
Multi-lingual is desirableTRAVEL - as required (planned for
