Technology & Accessible Educational Materials (AT&AEM) Center
at OCALI, we believe that people with disabilities and those who
support them need access to the right materials, technology, and
training to ensure they can live their best lives for their whole
lives.
The AT&AEM Center offers specialized training and technical
assistance related to assistive technologies, obtaining accessible
educational materials for Ohio schools, and maintaining a
clearinghouse of AT devices, large print, and braille books for
loan. We also offer production and dissemination services and
provide an array of expertise and resources to those who support
and care for people with disabilities.
The AT&AEM Center is just one of OCALI's nine centers, who work
collaboratively to inspire change and promote access for people

The Program Director of the AT&AEM Center will have the
opportunity to:
- Inform the direction and practices of OCALI and our partners by
providing thought leadership in accessible educational materials
and technologies;
- Provide direction and support to AT&AEM Center team for
completion of center projects that align with the missions of the
AT&AEM Center and OCALI;
- Lead development of products and resources in the area of
assistive technology, accessible educational materials and
accessibility;
- Work collaboratively with other center directors and staff on
projects of mutual interest;
- Connect with professionals across the nation, state, and
locally to implement best practices;
- Deliver professional development to various audiences, as well
as share resources at local, state, and national conferences;
and
- Work in a fast-paced environment with a great deal of variety

- Job Responsibilities and Duties Core responsibilities and duties
of this position are:
- Provide leadership and supervisory support to 12 highly
specialized, multi-disciplinary staff;
- Serve as Ohio's state coordinator to the National Instructional
Materials Accessibility Center (NIMAC);
- Collaborate with the Ohio Department of Education to conduct
the Ohio Federal Quota (FQ) census, order FQ materials for LEAs and
other agencies and manage and distribute braille, large print, and
supplemental learning materials from the Ohio FQ
Clearinghouse;
- Oversee the statewide AT&AEM Production Center, ensuring
LEAs receive high quality accessible format materials (braille,
large print, audio, digital) in a timely manner;
- Oversee the administration of a federal braille training grant,
including planning and implementing grant activities, budget, data
collection, and required reporting;
- Oversee the selection, purchase, setup, and maintenance of
select OCALI's Lending Library collections (e.g. AT devices,
braille and large print books, AT assessments, etc.) in
collaboration with the Lending Library staff;
- Plan and facilitate various AT and AEM professional advisory
boards and networks;
- Participate in state and national advisory committees and work
groups;
- Conduct professional development and technical assistance to
LEAs, disabilities groups, and higher education programs;
- Oversee website, social media, and other marketing and
communications of the center to market products and services;
and
- Complete other duties as assigned by the executive director,
which may include supporting district technical assistance
initiatives, grant writing, meeting attendance, developing reports,
analyzing data, etc. Qualifications and Skills Required
- Master's degree in education, special education, education
administration, related services, or appropriate related field or
evidence of equivalency;
- A license appropriate to the individual's profession;
- Extensive experience in providing services for students/adults
with a broad range of disabilities;
- Proven leadership skills in the field of AT, AEM, and
accessibility;
- Ability to inspire, motivate, mentor, support, coach, and
facilitate a team to work collaboratively and towards a common
mission;
- Knowledge about federal and state accessibility standards and
guidelines (504, WCAG, ADA, etc.);
- Knowledge of relevant special education law related to service
delivery in the schools;
- Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and inclusive of
diverse populations;
- Willingness to work alongside the disability community and with
service providers to increase accessible and inclusive
opportunities and practices;
- Demonstrate innovative thinking, strong initiative, driven to
complete projects, and ability to leverage resources while
maintaining focus on the global organizational mission;
- Demonstrate a history as a self-directed professional with
strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrate ability to build successful relationships with
others, including co-workers, external partners and customers;
- Communicate professionally and effectively, in writing and
orally, with internal teams and external partners, and/or
customers;
- Experience in project management with evidence of ability to
plan, execute, progress monitor, and problem solve long-term,
multi-year projects;
- Ability to prioritize and vet project opportunities and make
effective decisions based on data analysis, customer needs, trends,
funding opportunities, etc.;
- Experience developing and/or implementing federal, state,
and/or local grants and contracts;
- Ability to deliver effective coaching, consultation, and
high-quality professional development in a variety of environments
including, virtual and in-person;
- Experience and proficiency with technology and technology
applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Word
products, Apple products, SharePoint, Zoom, Teams, etc.);
- Willingness to continuously learn and engage in relevant
learning activities related to the position;
- And, ability to independently travel within the state for
meetings, consultation, and professional development when
needed.
Ideal candidates will also demonstrate the following preferred
skills:
- Knowledge of service provision systems and intervention
supports for adults with disabilities;
- Ability to make data-driven decisions for the implementation of
monitoring and improvement efforts;
- Engage in focused planning, including research-based
instructional and intervention practices;
- Effective coaching and consultation skills;
- Knowledge of current educational practices (e.g. differentiated
instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Positive Behavior
Interventions & Supports(PBIS), Multi-Tiered System of Support
(MTSS), Multi-System Youth (MSY), etc.);
- Demonstrate comfort in online learning environments and
conferencing;
- Demonstrate knowledge about Ohio's educational system agencies
(e.g. State Support Teams, Educational Service Centers, Department
of Education, Local Education Agencies, Higher Education,
etc.)
- Demonstrate knowledge about Ohio's disabilities related
agencies (e.g. Department of Developmental Disabilities,
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, etc.). and
- And, willingness to obtain specialty certifications as related
to job needs. Salary Commensurate with experience and in accordance
