Job Description:
The Stations Practice Manager is responsible leading the Station
business line. They will develop and execute plans to align our
business goals with the market and growth of the Practice. This
includes building core capabilities within their responsible area,
developing solutions for client pains, and ensuring high quality
delivery of projects to our clients. They understand Station
requirements within the electric utility industry. They will
provide leadership and direction to their direct reports and ensure
that all projects meet their Cost, Quality, and Timing metrics.
This role is primarily client facing to ensure the timely delivery
of innovative solutions while keeping abreast of market and
technology trends in the industry. In addition, this role is
central to identifying and developing resources in the Practice to
ensure a high level of expertise, performance, and client focus to
stay ahead of the competition. Success in this role requires proven
technical expertise combined with business acumen, advanced people
and team-building skills, and a consulting mindset to deliver
technical and business solutions that align with the vision of
being a 'partner of choice'.
Essential Functions:
--- Develop and implement strategic plans to meet the Station
Sub-Practice goals of client satisfaction, business and technical
performance, and employee engagement
--- Establish, foster and maintain a highly relational,
collaborative, innovative, energetic, fearless, bold team
culture
--- Collaborate with Business Development and Practice Enablement
Teams to develop solutions for Clients within the Station
Sub-Practice Practice as defined within Actalent Services' Service
Management Framework (SMF)
--- Collaborate across Distribution and Transmission Practices
teams to define strategy and develop solutions for joint business
opportunities that meet business objectives including station
engineering & design
--- Lead, Manage, and expand Station Standards service offerings,
including data base governance, application development, and data
collection
--- Direct and manage teams executing projects within the Station
Sub-Practice with overall responsibility for technical solutions,
cost, quality, and client satisfaction
--- Ensure compliance to Actalent Services' SMF for all
center-based/onsite/remotely managed projects
--- Monitor and manage Station project budgets; plan, control, and
allocate resources required to meet project requirements
--- Build and maintain strong client relationships within the
client's organization
--- Work with Client's business/technical leadership to facilitate
workflow development, project scope development and risk
assessment, issues resolution and work forecasting and planning
--- Provide direction and innovation in service and/or process
improvement, cost reduction and recommendations for business
process optimization
--- Build and oversee teams at multiple Actalent Service
sites/locations to ensure consistency of services, compliance with
client processes and standards and responsiveness to both client
and employee requirements
--- Develop and implement employee performance and development
plans to meet individual development and growth, and overall
program goals; includes primary responsibility for talent
management including overall hiring and termination decisions
--- Stay current with the latest trends in the electric utility
industry and implement strategies that leverage changes in the
marketplace into new business opportunities
--- Ensure compliance with Internal and Client's training and
policy requirements
--- Other duties as assigned by Management
Direct Supervisory or Management Responsibilities:
Execute managerial responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws as needed.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:
--- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering required;
degrees in a related engineering field may be considered on a
case-by-case basis, advanced degree and/or Project Management
Professional (PMP) license is a plus. Professional Engineering (PE)
and the ability to take Responsible Charge over Station Projects is
required.
--- Expert knowledge in Station Engineering & Design
--- Working knowledge and experience in the electric utility
industry of at least three of the following: Station Layout,
Station Equipment and Material Specification and Selection,
Engineered Foundation Design, Lightning Protection and Grounding
Analysis and Design, or applying NESC and/or RUS guidelines.
--- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on past
projects.
--- Proven technical/managerial capabilities in developing
solutions to engineering and business problems and managing
deliverables and client expectations
--- Experienced in customizing Station offerings to create client
value and to lower engagement costs
--- A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in the electric
utility industry, with at least 5 years of professional Station
engineering experience.
--- Must have demonstrated management experience leading large
engineering/technical teams
--- A minimum of 5 years in a client facing role including the
ability to navigate through a client's organization in the Electric
Utility Industry and to create/nurture client relationships
--- Proven entrepreneurial competencies including leadership,
effective communications, and the ability to build organizations
and capabilities
--- Proven written, oral, and presentation skills and the ability
to conduct meetings with high-level decision makers
--- Ability to effectively communicate and partner across
cross-functional teams and roles in virtual environment
--- Ability to travel when needed, up to 50%
