Job Description:

Vertiv is hiring a Director, Procurement - Product Development in Westerville, Ohio. As a member of the Americas Procurement Team, the person will represent the larger Procurement Team and lead the Procurement focused Line of Business teams that drive New Product Development (NPD) Procurement deliverables/metrics/supplier readiness, product cost reductions, product site transfers, supply chain design, and time-to-market initiatives. This role reports to the VP of Americas Procurement and manages a team of 10+ New Product Development Sourcing Engineers. -This position will be responsible for building the team, improving the processes, and putting appropriate systems in place to drive the Procurement and Business objectives.
The Procurement business lead will operate under the framework of the Procurement Operating model and fully leverage Direct Commodity Management, Indirect Procurement, Logistics Procurement, and other Procurement resources. The team will proactively partner with the Line of Businesses teams to meet Procurement and Line of Business goals and objectives. -

  • Focal point for Business Unit Development teams for Material, Cap Ex, and Supplier issues during New Product Launches or Product Transfers. Drives resolution of issues, supplier readiness, and successful production ramp-up.
  • Delivers key Procurement KPIs for NPD project - BOM cost, Cap Ex cost, dual sourcing, lead time, lifecycle, Preferred Supplier usage, etc.
  • Completes and delivers Sourcing Analysis for each gate review. Ensures all Procurement deliverables are met. Drives open actions following gate review
  • Drives BOM costs to or below targets. Leads efforts to drive cost down where actual exceeds the target
  • Maximizes Dual Sourcing. Ensure any single/sole sourced parts are approved for use and a mitigation plan is agreed upon and completed
  • Maximizes Preferred Supplier/Manufacturer Compliance on New Products
  • Identify any New, Unique, or Difficult technologies/commodity types. Leads the discussion with the NPD Procurement team, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Commodity Managers to mitigate risk. -
  • Leads efforts to identify prototype suppliers that meet the business needs
  • Drives the commodity strategies into the supplier/manufacturer selection process -
  • Performs risk assessment on BOMs and drives mitigations
  • Drives Procurement change order and BOM Launch processes to meet project milestones/gate reviews
  • Leads the Make vs. Buy discussion with AME, Commodity team, and Engineering team for applicable parts
  • Complete the handover from NPD to Vertiv factory or a subcontractor

      • Significant Supply Chain and Operations background preferred, with experience in multiple disciplines (e.g., NPI, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.).
      • Ability to manage multiple Projects management simultaneously, prioritization, communication, team player within Procurement and cross-functional teams. Willing to work in different time zones (as required).
      • Ability to drive continuous improvement processes
