TITLE: Safety Manager
LOCATION: Columbus, Ohio

a Level II neonatal intermediate care unit, neurosurgery and

Responsible for managing and supervising the safety program along
with Safety Consultant for the healthcare system.
Responsible for development, implementation and evaluation of the
safety program for the healthcare system.
Coordinates all Life Safety functions related to

This manager communicates and provides project updates related to

tools as necessary.
Oversees fire drills, fire critiques, and location of fire
extinguishers, as well as oxygen and other medical gas storage.
Oversees Life Safety Code deficiencies, including fire alarms, fire
suppression and other life safety downtimes.
Manages construction plans and bids, for compliance with life
Coordinates construction risk assessments for all work on the
property. ImplementsALSM when necessary and handles all
documentation associated with it. Communicates ALSM and
construction issues to organizations staff.
Provides installation direction for fire extinguishers,
evacuation/smoke maps, hand sanitizers, eye wash stations and
approve all decorations within corridors.
Consults with other departments, architects, fire officials, and
HFAP on projects, by providing life safety code knowledge.
Oversees those conducting chemical inventory, maintaining and
updating the healthCare system (SDS) Safety Data Sheets.
Acts as a liaison between the hospital and Ohio Hospital
Association, the county health department and others as needed for
emergency preparedness and disaster.
Serves as administrator of OPHCS, SurgeNet and OHTrac.
Manages the healthcare emergency notification system for exterior
buildings and weather issues.
Coordinates with Safety Committee and oversees all Emergency
Preparedness/Disaster Committees. This includes overseeing all
policies associated with the committees.
Oversees the reviews/revision of emergency related
policy/procedures, and organizations Emergency Operations Plan.
Participates as an active member of the County (LEPC) Local
Emergency Preparedness Committee, and ensures organizations
information is shared with committee.
Assists in organizing incident command center to insure disaster
Directs those maintaining the organizations command center email
account, passwords, and updates.
Assists in organizing, participates in, and evaluates emergency
preparedness drills for hospital-proper and all outlying
within the organization.
Oversees all aspects of organizations decontamination equipment and
Works with IT and Patient Access to maintain disaster documentation
navigator in organizations EMR.
Oversees the completion of ASPR grant requests and oversees/audits
all items/funds obtained through the grant.
Coordinates after-action reports and improvement plans.
Bachelors Degree required.
Minimum of 5 years experience in hospital safety operations.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training- Incident
Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 (or obtained within one
year of employment).
Requires excellent analytic, consultative, and presentation
Experience in Emergency/Disaster Preparedness.
Experience in building and fire codes and assessing compliance with
Experience working with emergency response agencies such as fire,
police, Red Cross, EMA, and hospital/medical organizations.
Experience in development and delivery of education/training
Reports to the Director of Public Safety.
The position is being revised into a new position as a manager as
there will no longer be a safety consultant.
Person would need to have effective management skills including
planning, directing, evaluating, and controlling systems.
The position is offering between 63K-85K. The position offers
relocation and a great benefit package.
