Full time position Benefits eligible We are seeking a Physical Therapist - The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating pediatric and select adult patients for physical therapy as a result of injury or disease; administering treatment, fabricating or recommending adaptive equipment and splints; documenting evaluation results or patient progress, and providing patient and family education. Demonstrates competence defined (*) in Staff Physical Therapist responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and services to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and selected adult patients. What will you be doing? - Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies patient's strengths and deficits; establishes long and short term goals; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs. - Administers the instruments of standardized neonatal developmental assessment to include the Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP) and Bayley III. - Administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence; utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet each patient's specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress and/or changes in patient's condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly. - Fabricates, recommends or provides adaptive equipment, splints or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility. Fits patient and instructs patient and family on use of item. - Educates parents on their child's treatment goals and therapy plan; instructsthe parents on therapeutic activities to follow while in hospital or at home; documents instruction and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. - Documents patients' evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations; utilizes appropriate computerized or standardized documentation methods, as applicable to caseload. - Communicates patient's status and collaborates with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team. - Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling patients for treatment, entering daily patient charges, and submitting timely documentation to appropriate parties. - Coordinates the patient's therapy and parent education plan between inpatient, outpatient and home care. - Recommends and secures patient referrals to community agencies to ensure patient continues to receive needed and appropriate services after discharge. - Provides education and network support to community health professionals guiding the physical and cognitive development of neonates in their care at home. - Attends continuing education programs and participates in departmental in-service training programs to enhance professional development. - Conducts formal and informal Physical Therapy educational programs for hospital staff, students and community. - Contributes to the evidence based practice of neonates through quality improvement initiatives, publication and research. - Adheres to departmental productivity standards. - Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
