Job Summary: Surgical Technologist responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical operations in the Operating Room.



Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit.
He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

• Ensures quality patient care during operative procedures.
  
• Maintains a sterile field during operations.
  
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during procedures.
  
  
  
  Qualifications:
  
  
  
  
• Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  
• Experience:
  
  
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program.
  
• One year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist.
  
• Three years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting.
  
  
  
• Certification: BLS required.
  
• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  
• NRP is preferred.
  
• Preferred completion of a fetal monitoring workshop and an orientation to learn surgical asepsis.
