Job Description:
Summary/ObjectiveThe Day Support Professional- Specialist's
primary job responsibility is to implement behavioral health and
educational services using the principles of Applied Behavior
Analysis (ABA) with individuals diagnosed with autism, related
mental health disorders and/or intellectual disabilities in either
a 1:1 or small group settings. They many also provide Adult Day
Supports, Vocational Habilitation, and Non-Medical Transportation
Services. This position receives supervision and training from
behavior analytic and/or behavioral health supervisors through
direct observation and team meetings. Essential Functions- Delivers
instruction and assessments following procedures learned from
initial and ongoing training sessions and based on feedback given
from supervisors.- Implements skills acquisition and behavior
modification plans as provided during initial training and from
ongoing training and feedback from supervisors.- Implements
behavioral health treatment by providing intensive services based
off the individual’s behavioral health needs including, but not
limited to: skills development, problem solving, conflict
resolution, emotions/behavior management, developing positive
coping mechanisms, and managing symptoms to enhance
vocations/school opportunities and/or independent living.-
Implements crisis interventions as needed and when approved.-
Collects and analyzes data and records of service accurately
following Boundless procedures.- Organizes, prepares teaching and
treatment materials and maintain clean instructional area.-
Maintains designated individual’s data collection methods,
documents, records and materials related to treatment and
educational plans.- Assists in monitoring goal progression.-
Identifies and documents when interventions are needed for specific
goals due to lack of progression.- Provides activities of daily
living supports to persons served.- Provides individualized support
to participate in community activities and build community
membership consistent with the individual’s interests, preferences,
goals, and outcomes as outlined in the Individual Service Plan
(ISP).- Engages with individuals, following curriculum-based
activities.- Transports clients as needed; operates Boundless
vehicles and/or own vehicle and/or rides along and bills.- Adheres
to company policies and procedures in addition to regulations, laws
and other requirements from applicable governing bodies,
certification, licensure and/or accreditation entities, etc.Other
Responsibilities- Assists in maintaining files for compliance in
accordance with applicable local, state and federal standards;
report unusual incidents and communicate unusual medical situations
as required.- Performs first aid as trained and designated.-
Completes treatment and education review for designated individual
as assigned.- Attends and participates in all treatment and
educational team meetings, program meetings and Staff Development
Days.- Seeks, receives and applies feedback appropriately and
professionally, and work towards goals developed with supervisors.-
Communicates in a professional manner with coworkers, outside
professionals, and parents, and uses professional language when
describing the individual and/or behaviors.- Participates in
fundraising activities through distribution of materials and
information.- Responsible for reading and following the employee
handbook and all Boundless policies and procedures.- Responsible
for completing and following all trainings assigned.- Within 60
days of hire, successfully completes of the required physical
crisis management training(s) and certification(s) applicable to
the assigned program.- This job regularly works in the center or
assigned treatment program. This job may also work in the community
providing services outside of the office, in schools, client homes,
and other community settings.- Other duties as assigned.Supervisory
DutiesThis position has no supervisory responsibility.Education,
Skills, Experience and Requirements- High School diploma or
equivalent, plus 3 years or more years of experience in the
behavioral health, human services, or mental health field required;
College Degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related
field preferred.- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation
(DOT) physical.- Proficient computer skills.- Ability to obtain and
maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child and infant (training will be
provided, if not already certified).- One to two (1-2) years of
experience working directly with children and families preferred.-
Experience working with people with autism spectrum disorders,
behavioral health conditions, and developmental disabilities
preferred.- Must be able to function independently and have
flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work
effectively with individuals, staff, and support agencies.- Must be
able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset,
and at times hostile clients/family members.- Must possess the
ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
such action.- Proof of automobile insurance- Valid driver’s license
