Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a
busy Surgical Oncology PCU/Medsurg unit with night shifts and
strong oncology patient care skills. Responsibilities - Work on a
mixed acuity PCU and Med Surg unit within a hospital setting -
Patient population includes adult and geriatric oncology and
post-surgical patients - Typical diagnoses include breast, thyroid,
melanoma, liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract, neuroendocrine,
colon, and rectal cancers - Procedures include chemotherapy
administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and
heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies - Heavy
emphasis on infection prevention and fall protocols - Staffing
ratio goal is 1:4, may be up to 1:5 depending on unit needs - Night
shift (3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30) required; day/night rotation may be
available - Weekend coverage is variable based on unit needs - Uses
Epic for charting; prior Epic experience preferred -
Self-scheduling requests are submitted and balanced with unit needs
- Responsibilities include managing high acuity oncology and
post-surgical patients and responding to oncologic emergencies -
First week consists of Monday–Friday day shift orientation; second
week includes 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor -
RTO (requested time off) must be submitted at the time of
application - Must comply with urgent Ohio fingerprinting process
upon contract acceptance - Both local and travel candidates are
accepted at the same rate - Scrub or dress code details will be
provided during onboarding - Unit does not offer block or set
scheduling for any staff Requirements - Active OH or compact RN
license required at time of consideration - Minimum of 2 years
recent relevant nursing experience required - Current BLS, ACLS,
and NIHSS certifications required - ONS Chemo certification
preferred - Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Must provide two professional references, including at least one
from a supervisor or manager - Previous employment at the facility
must be at least 6 months prior to consideration - Current Ohio
State University hospital employees are not eligible Benefits -
