Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 16 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Med/Surg Tele unit with night shifts and oncology patient care requirements. Responsibilities - Position is on a mixed acuity Med Surg/Tele floor with both PCU and Med Surg patients - Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with oncological, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and reconstructive diagnoses - Common procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies - Staffing ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:5 - Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 19:00 to 7:30 - Self-scheduling available, with final schedule determined by unit needs - Uses Epic for electronic charting; Epic experience is recommended - First week orientation is dayshift, Monday through Friday, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptor-led orientation - Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, managing drips, responding to oncologic emergencies, and preventing infections and patient falls - Work on a collaborative team where all permanent staff has Progressive Care Unit (PCU) training - Must strictly adhere to expedited Ohio fingerprinting requirements following contract signing - Variable weekend and holiday requirements based on unit needs - No blocked or set scheduling is available - Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least 6 months to be eligible for travel assignments - Current employees at any Ohio State University hospital are not eligible for this travel position - Local and travel candidates are both accepted at the same rate - All requests for time off must be submitted at the time of application Requirements - Active OH or compact RN license required at the time of consideration - Minimum two years of relevant experience required - Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required - ONS Chemo certification is preferred - Must provide two professional references, one of which must be from a manager, director, or charge RN Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619597.
