Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/09/2026 - Duration: 16 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel ```htmlJob Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Oncology / Progressive Care Unit – Ohio Start Date: February 9, 2026 Location: Columbus, Ohio Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 13-16 week contract; rotating nights with potential days based on unit needs; reviewed every 4-week scheduling period Highlights: - Progressive Care Unit and Medical-Surgical Oncology experience in a secure corrections healthcare setting - Patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU, 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical - EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication management - Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Services - Float opportunity across Oncology MS and PCU units - 72 hours of orientation provided Requirements: - Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission) - Minimum 2 years of nursing experience - Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS - EPIC charting experience required - Oncology experience preferred but not required - Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program - 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role) - Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing Clinical Skills and Competencies: - Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management - IV therapy and phlebotomy: blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, starting IVs - Respiratory care: CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management - Medication management: Heparin protocols, cardiac drips, PCA, IV insulin protocols - Specialized oncology skills preferred: accessing/managing ports, monitoring chemotherapy - Additional competencies: feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis care, renal failure management Patient Population: - Patients with active oncology diagnoses and treatments including solid tumors and hematology - Oncology workup admissions - Patients with cancer history admitted for other medical or surgical reasons - Non-oncology diagnoses including COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, and post-surgical care - Daily census: 36 patients across 36 beds Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers a unique opportunity to provide compassionate, high-quality care in a specialized corrections healthcare environment where staff safety is a top priority.
