Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/09/2026 - Duration: 16 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, flexible, rotating - Employment Type: Travel ```htmlJob Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology PCU/Medical-Surgical – Ohio Start Date: February 9, 2026 Location: Columbus, Ohio Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 12-hour rotating Day/Night shifts; weekend shifts vary by unit needs; 13-16 week contract Highlights: - Float between Oncology Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignments within a secure corrections healthcare facility - Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU, 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical units - Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management - Diverse case mix including active oncology treatment, surgical recovery, cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and complex medical conditions - 72 hours of orientation provided; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and Physical Therapy - Staff safety prioritized in a controlled corrections environment with Corrections Officers providing security Requirements: - Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission) - Minimum 2 years of RN experience; oncology experience preferred but not required - Epic charting experience required - Current certifications: BLS (required), ACLS (required), NIHSS (required) - Competencies in MS/Telemetry, PCU/Stepdown care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA, respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, tracheostomy care), feeding tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis care - Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program - Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role) - Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required - Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon contract signing Why It's a Great Opportunity: This role offers experienced nurses the chance to make a meaningful impact in a unique healthcare setting while expanding clinical skills across oncology, progressive care, and medical-surgical specialties.
