1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a
PCU/Progressive Care Unit position within a secure corrections
oncology setting, requiring Epic experience and an active OH or
compact RN license. Details - Hospital-based PCU within a
corrections unit serving Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and
Corrections (ODRC) inmates - Locked, access-controlled unit managed
by Corrections Officers (CO) with a 1:2 CO-to-inmate ratio -
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 on PCU and 1:4-5 on Med-Surg -
Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses and
treatments (solid tumors, hematology), oncology workup admissions,
and non-oncology diagnoses such as COPD, sepsis, and pneumonia -
Required to float to various Oncology Med-Surg units as needed -
Some shifts assigned to PCU, others to Med-Surg depending on
department needs - Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30);
rotating Day/Night contracts may be scheduled for days, nights, or
a combination based on staffing needs reviewed every 4-week
scheduling period - Weekend shift requirements vary based on unit
needs - EMR: Epic (experience required); Medication dispensing:
Pyxis Requirements - Active OH RN license or compact RN license
currently in hand - Current BLS certification required - Epic EMR
experience required - Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
required - Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia
interpretation and management - Experience with IV therapy
including blood product administration, central line, PICC line,
and peripheral line care - Experience with respiratory support
including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and ABG
interpretation - Experience with IV insulin protocols, heparin
protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), and PCA management -
Experience with feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis and
renal failure management Additional Information - Oncology
experience is preferred but not required - Must maintain staff
safety awareness within a secure corrections environment - Support
services available on unit include pharmacy, respiratory services,
rapid response teams, physical therapy, radiology, social services,
interpretation services, and transportation - No break required
between assignments when changing representation at this health
system (except for Sterile Processing Techs, who require a 30-day
break) - 2 professional supervisor references from within the past
2 years required for consideration - Full 7-year work history with
all gaps explained required for consideration - All time-off and
