is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary
of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] The Associate Communications Rep, Web &
Social Media, is a strategic and innovative communicator that plays
an integral role in providing an engaging social media experience
for FirstEnergy's 6 million customers. The associate communications
rep will help to enhance the social media presence of FirstEnergy
and its 10 electric companies by developing compelling digital
content and facilitating daily social media operations as part of
the company's efforts to effectively communicate with customers and
enhance the customer experience.In this role, the ideal candidate
will collaborate with team members to develop and publish social
media content that educates customers about their electric service,
helps to humanize the FirstEnergy brand and builds customer
engagement. This includes working with Employee and State
Communications and internal business groups to share ideas and
content with FirstEnergy customers. He/she will also be responsible
for helping to manage an ongoing publishing calendar for social
media and play a role in community management by addressing
customer concerns and questions.The ideal candidate will have
experience using multiple social media platforms including
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube, and a strong
understanding of how to maintain brand voice across platforms. The
individual must possess strong writing and verbal communication
skills and be able to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple
projects simultaneously. Relevant internship or professional
experience is required.This position reports to the Supervisor,
Digital Communications, in the Communications & Branding
department. While the reporting location for the position is in
Akron, Ohio, the ideal candidate may work remotely.Responsibilities
include:
- Understands how to use multiple sources of data to help drive
social content and strategy.
- Possess and demonstrate good problem-solving skills and
decision-making abilities.
- Support daily publishing to social platforms, including text,
images, reels and video, using Sprinklr social media management
platform.
- Collaborate with members of the Employee and State
Communications teams as well as contacts across the company to
facilitate behind-the-scenes storytelling opportunities that help
to promote FirstEnergy's brand and engage customers.
- Assist with the planning, research and development of seasonal
and evergreen website and social media content, such as feature
stories, videos and graphics.
- Edit and/or resize images as needed to fit each platform's
requirements.
- Assist with shooting videoland taking photos to support social
media and website content; experience producing and editing video a
plus.
- Develop and maintain a database of digital assets for use
across various channels, including social media, website and
marketing campaigns.
- Help develop and execute social media strategies to increase
the organization's visibility, engagement and reach across social
media platforms.
- Monitor online conversations and media coverage to help
identify key issues and content opportunities.
- Help provide a seamless customer experience by engaging with
consumers who interact with FirstEnergy's social channels, while
taking the initiative to escalate concerns as needed or research an
appropriate response.
- Provide on-site social media assistance at various community,
sponsored and volunteer events to offer real-time coverage to
customers.
- Play a key role in helping to maintain FirstEnergy's brand
voice and publishing guidelines.
- Provide support during large scale outages or other significant
events as part of the Communications Emergency Response Team,
including during evenings and weekends as needed.
- Serve as part of the afterhours media on-call rotation,
providing evening and weekend response for outage and other media
inquiries.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or
related discipline required.
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant work experience required. Relevant
work experience will include solid understanding of social media
management with an emphasis on brand guidelines for various social
media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn
and YouTube
- Ability to write engaging posts and develop relevant content
for social media channels
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and increase professional
knowledge of the latest trends, practices, programs, and
applications evolving in social media and translate those trends in
ways that apply to our customer needs.
- Knowledge of design, layout and photography principles
- Ability to work collaboratively with various groups in the
organization or on a self-directed basis
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint,
Publisher, Office 365, SharePoint)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with
