We are continually seeking bright and talented individuals to join our team.Compensation: Competitive PayGeneral Summary:Under the direction of a Deputy General Counsel, handle the day to day legal issues of the Executive Director and the various departments of the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio), with a focus on the legal needs of the alternative investments asset class.Summary Responsibilities:

• Review, structure and negotiate private investment agreements, including limited partnership agreements, side letters, SMA agreements, fund-of-one governing documents, and related documentation.
• Willingness to develop and maintain professional contacts including interface with venture capital firms, private equity firms, private and opportunistic credit firms, target companies and financial institutions.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of outside counsel; manage relationships with outside counsel.
• Advise internal investment staff on applicable securities and other laws and regulations.
• Assist with general legal and regulatory matters involving Investments and other departments within STRS Ohio.Summary of Qualifications:
  • Juris doctor degree and admission to the Ohio Bar required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant legal experience required, with at least three years of transactional experience in alternative investments, including private equity and private credit fund investments, equity and debt co-investments and/or direct equity and debt investments.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills. -
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively in a collegial, team-oriented environment.
