What You’ll Do

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for auditing on & off cycle payrolls, supporting Payroll team and ensuring the accuracy of the multi-state payroll processes. This role participates in small, medium, and large payroll projects, such as a time & attendance implementation. The role acts as the liaison between the payroll department, IT, and Operations in translating time keeping requirements into functional requirements. Duties related to this role require higher level payroll knowledge and experience, requiring some analytical judgment in the collection and evaluation of data and making recommendation for process improvements and/or completing project work.

  • Audits on & off cycle payrolls; both pre-audit & post audit. Regularly runs audit reports in SAP, reviews payroll data, consistently meets audit deadlines. Verifies sick, vacation, & other time off hours are being accurately reported by comparing approved time to time reports
  • Detects inefficiencies or conflicts in systems and processes and helps to identify process improvements and/or assists with creating SOX controls As needed
  • Documents and updates payroll processing, or time & attendance procedures As needed
  • Leads all aspects of timesheet calculations and reviews of current SAP Process
  • Conducts functional testing of time & attendance system and processes/updates system documentation, procedures and training materials
  • Facilitates communications between Payroll Team, Time Administrators (in the field) and Technical Team As needed
  • Develops and creates standardized user acceptance testing documentation, implements testing and documents results As needed
  • Coordinates with FSS Payroll Manager changes to Payroll or Time & Attendance environments, requiring process and or SOX control changes As needed
  • Provides input to Payroll Standard Operating Procedures “PSOP” As needed
  • Performs routine internal audits of various payroll areas to ensure operational SOX Controls are achieved, in partnership with FSS Payroll Manager As needed
  • Participates in small to large projects, working closely with assigned project coordinator and team members from within and outside of the Payroll Department. Assists with determining timelines and achievements
  • Performs payroll data entry in Kronos including timekeepers, miss-punch corrections, and labor transfers. As needed
  • Serves as a payroll subject matter expert and ensures operational excellence in payroll and time management systems and processes. Assists team members with payroll and time related questions; solve issues as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required or requested as needed

 

What You’ll Need

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical subject area, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of Payroll experience
  • Must be able to quickly grasp complex Payroll business processes
  • Strong knowledge and experience FLSA and payroll taxes
  • Knowledge and experience working with MS Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
  • SAP knowledge a plus; payroll processing and system experience (outside of SAP) such as, Ceridian, ADP, PeopleSoft, or Workday is acceptable
  • Kronos knowledge a plus, other time keeping system experience is acceptable
  • Implementation experience a plus
