    Academic Program Specialist - Chemistry and Biochemistry

    The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Academic Program Specialist to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. With 38 departments, 20+ world-class research centers, and more than 2,000 faculty and staff members, students have the unique opportunity to study with the best artists, scholars, and scientists in their field.     Provides undergraduate academic program support services in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry; advises Chemistry and Biochemistry majors and minors; monitors academic progress and assists students with scheduling problems; maintains major files and develops advising guidelines; assists students in obtaining information about research and internship opportunities; assists with commencement; possesses knowledge of all university offices/resources related to the undergraduate student experience, from admission to graduation, and makes referrals as appropriate; teaches survey course; conducts orientation; coordinates and assists with recruiting undergraduate Chemistry and Biochemistry students, as well as with outreach activities such as Science Olympiad; teaches one Chemistry or Biochemistry course per year; works with undergraduate course instructors to improve classroom presentation methods; manages Chemistry and Biochemistry transfer credit evaluations and maintains general Chemistry and Biochemistry exams in the Office of Testing; attends staff meetings; participates in department and college administrative committees, collaboration with other University services to provide excellent advising services for students; occasional evening and weekend work required; other duties as assigned.

    Required: Master's Level Degree with a Major in chemistry or biochemistry

    Desired: Doctoral Degree with a Major in chemistry or biochemistry

    The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 annually.
