Job Description:

Mulitmedia Designer As Ohio's Secretary of State, Frank LaRose is doing his part to deliver a thriving democracy and a prosperous economy for all Ohioans. In his role as the state's chief elections officer, he is working to ensure that Ohio's elections are both secure and accessible. And, as the first stop for new businesses in the Buckeye State, he is assisting entrepreneurs as they receive articles of incorporation for a new business. The Ohio Secretary of State is currently seeking candidates for a Multimedia Designer. The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Under the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Manager: creates communication tools using PC design software (including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Dreamweaver and LiveCycle); creates and maintains both print and web forms; creates and produces office brands & themes; ensures ADA WCAG 2.0 AA standards within digital documents and website; creates designs that fit into overall agency brand; creates multimedia features for all digital outlets (website, social media, etc.); Creates camera-ready art files to be sent to professional printers; develops the layout & design of Business Services, Elections and outreach publications (e.g. guides, forms, brochures, cards, posters, FAQ's and manuals); coordinates & develops materials for special projects and events (e.g., creates labels, tags, signs, agendas, table tents and PowerPoint templates; organizes event packets and supplementary documents (i.e., biographies, executive summaries, reports); develops event evaluations and handouts; designs, drafts and produces publication materials (e.g., maps, reports/report covers, binding, in-house publication printing, form layout, invitations and event team materials); translates print layouts and graphics into web designs; serves as the Legal, Finance, and Human Resources liaison for designing, drafting, and producing division publications (e.g., policies & procedures manual, union contract, certificates and training catalog). Creates post-production video editing for office-related educational videos; Creates animation enhancements for video and multimedia features; coordinates & develops materials for special projects and events (e.g., creates labels, tags, signs, agendas, table tents Word templates and PowerPoint templates, etc.); Edits and updates Web content to insure information timeliness and accuracy; participates in proof reading publication material; Creates and maintains both print and Web forms with accessibility standards in mind. Participates in mock elections including but not limited to verifying uploaded county data. Attends office events and all-staff meetings; serves as back-up to other staff (e.g., updates website, publication outreach, intranet directory updates); performs other related duties as assigned. Unusual Working Conditions: Special projects require evening and/or weekend work hours (including but not limited to election night, Ohio State Fair, election official training and/or conferences). May require travel throughout the State of Ohio & may require overnight stay. Must be willing and able to secure a valid driver's license or supply own transportation. Minimum Qualifications * Coursework or two years' experience in Adobe Creative Suite (including but not limited to InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects and Dreamweaver) Preferred Qualifications * Coursework or six months experience with Adobe LiveCycle, Adobe Forms Manager or Adobe Experience Manager * Experience with digital ADA accessibility and the WCAG * Experience with using research and critical thinking in order to bring a different perspective to a project
