Please see video below: What You'll Do: Do you love to travel and see new places? Come see the behind-the-scenes operations of Weights & Measures! You will have the luxury of traveling in state and around the country to field test sites. There is also the possibility of some travel abroad! The Ohio Department of Agriculture is currently seeking candidates for a Weights and Measures Technologist (NTEP - National Type Evaluation Program) Evaluator position in the Weights and Measures Division, in the NTEP/Metrology Lab, headquartered in Licking County. Responsibilities for the NTEP Evaluator position include but are not limited to: * Performs type evaluations of new devices including scales, balances, multiple dimensions measuring devices, and meters

* Follows published procedures to evaluate devices for conformance to design and performance requirements

* Maintains laboratory test equipment and ensures functionality at maximum operating efficiency

* Consults with manufacturers, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) on technical matters of evaluation and measurement

* Interprets results of tests

* Records and analyzes results using personal computer and related software

* Prepares reports and certificates per NIST and NCWM requirements

* Tests devices to high degree of accuracy.

* Ensures work complies with various associations (e.g., NIST, NCWM, and Measurement Canada)

* Enforces ORC Statutes 1327.46-1327.61 and regulations and/or rules pursuant to said statutes

* Maintains confidential and proprietary data/information on devices tested in accordance with NCWM Publication 14

* Travels to field sites to perform device evaluations (in-state, out-of-state, and overseas)

* Travels to attend special technical trainings and seminars

* Answers inquires pertaining to activities of NTEP Laboratory

* Responds to inquiries from officials and industry regarding NTEP requirements & prepares invoices

* Performs training and outreach to persons of industry and/or county weights and measures representatives: prepares talks (e.g., provides information to weights and measures officials at formal business sessions) and provides technical information on precise tests and evaluations

* Assists with calibrations of mass, length, and volume standards used by county, city, state inspectors, and private corporations in Ohio

* Follows laboratory procedures to make precise determination of mass, length, and volume in accordance with NIST recognition and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation

* Prepares calibration certificates in accordance with NIST requirements

* Performs other related duties as assigned: conducts field tests on commercial weighing and measuring equipment

* Maintains lab standards and equipment

Effective July 1, 2022 a number of prenatal, childbirth, and post-childbirth services will be provided at no out-of-pocket cost to employees utilizing network providers. Examples of services now covered by network providers at 100% include: * Prenatal care, including physician visits and examinations.

* Home health care services designated as maternity care (for expectant members on bed rest).

* Inpatient claims for all types of delivery.

* Inpatient NICU claims, from birth through discharge.

* Postpartum care, including office visits for follow-up, and procedures/treatments directly related to maternity. Medications prescribed for both antepartum and postpartum conditions (e.g., morning sickness, postpartum depression).Medical services provided by non-network providers will be processed at the applicable coinsurance, deductible, and out-of-pocket limits. Prescription drugs that are directly related to maternity care will be covered with no copay. The State of Ohio has collaborated with the prescription drug third-party administrator (OptumRx) to provide a list of covered medications that can be approved for zero copay via prior authorization from providers. Ohio Public Employees Retirement System * OPERS is the retirement system for State of Ohio employees. The employee contributes 10% of their salary towards their retirement. In most cases successful employees will move up a step in the salary range within six months, with subsequent step increases occurring every year with successful performance.
