Description:Provides legal advice and services to Greif management
and business unit colleagues on legal and business matters,
including those of a difficult and complex nature, with an emphasis
on establishing practices that minimize legal risk. Coordinates
projects with other team members, paralegal and administrative
staff. Applies independent judgment in determining courses of
action required to perform assignments. Makes and supports
recommendations on a variety of matters including policies and
complex legal problems. Provides training on legal topics.Key
ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate the legal affairs for certain
North America business units and corporate departments.Serve the
business and proactively identify legal trends to provide legal
risk analysis.Advise and support compliance by Greif with
applicable regulatory matters.Provide hands-on counsel to all
levels of executive and non-executive colleagues.Manage outside
counsel to support corporate objectives.Act as lead counsel for the
negotiation and drafting of customer, supplier and other contracts,
and advise colleagues on contract law and commercial issues as
applicable.Act as an advisor or lead counsel, as directed, on
strategic acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and business
development, and support post acquisition integration
efforts.Assist in securities reporting matters.Support the team in
working with the Board of Directors.Support, participate, and
engage in Legal Department initiatives.Provide legal guidance on
Greif's ESG initiatives, including corporate governance.Performs
other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree
(or equivalent) and law degree required in addition to 7 or more
years of legal experience.Excellent written and verbal
communication skills.Knowledge and SkillsCommitment to quality and
customer service excellence.Substantial knowledge on drafting,
reviewing, and negotiating a large variety of commercial
contracts.Demonstrated ability as a corporate generalist with the
ability to develop deeper skills in needed practice areas (M&A,
Securities, Real Estate, Environmental, Privacy, etc.).Ability to
manage, work with, and build trust with people of many levels,
cultures, and disciplines, both inside and outside Greif.Capability
to lead and be an active participant in teams.Ability to supervise
other legal counsel and colleagues.Ability to apply legal knowledge
and expertise in legal subject matter areas in a dynamic business
environment.Ability to learn Greif's business, think strategically
and provide critical analysis and risk assessment.Ability to juggle
varied and demanding workload and to manage competing priorities
and deadlines.Pragmatic and energetic personality, with strong
analytical skills.Self-starter, self-confident and projects
