Position Summary: - -Velocys is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate manual welder with a strong work ethic to play a key role on our manufacturing team. The Manual TIG/MIG Welder will be based at the new state of the art Velcoys Technology Center in Plain City, Ohio. - As part of the newly created additive manufacturing team, the welder will be working in a small team. -The role holder will be responsible for the preparation of parts to be welded and therefore will be competent in fixturing, stacking, cutting, grinding, milling, and fitting. - - A large proportion of the working day will involve the operation of manual and semi-automated welding equipment, following blueprints and work specifications, to enable the production of TIG and MIG welds. - All welds must meet both the print specification and quality assurance requirements. -
While the role is in a temperature-controlled facility, it is physically demanding; therefore, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to stand for long durations of time and be able to routinely handle and lift items of 50lbs in weight.
Salary, Benefits, and Advancement Opportunities: The role of manual TIG/MIG Welder will be full time salary position. Starting salary will be between $52,000 and $66,500 depending on experience. The position comes with full benefits including 401k and health insurance.
Essential Responsibilities will Include:
- - - - - - - - - Operate and maintain semi-automated equipment (press, weld positioner, etc.)
- - - - - - - - - Ensure all weld and associated equipment is setup, operated and maintained in a safe condition and all safety devices are in use.
- - - - - - - - - Able to read blueprints and create quality welds that meet print specification.
- - - - - - - - - Weld components using manual and/or semi-automated welding equipment.
- - - - - - - - - Pass TIG and MIG qualification tests as needed.
- - - - - - - - - Inspect welds for flaws and accuracy to print/work instructions.
- - - - - - - - - Prepare parts to be welded by fixturing, stacking, cutting, grinding, milling, and fitting.

Qualifications for Success: - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - - - Completion of a welder training program for manual TIG/MIG welding.
- - - - - - - - - Relevant work experience utilizing manual TIG and/or MIG welding.
- - - - - - - - - Must be physically able to effectively weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions and stand for 75% of the working day.
- - - - - - - - - Must be fluent in English with the ability to understand written and verbal instructions
- - - - - - - - - Must be able to work equally well independently as well as in a team setting.
- - - - - - - - - Manufacturing, production, or assembly experience is desirable but not essential.
- - - - - - - - - Familiar with rigging equipment and crane operation is desirable but not essential.
- - - - - - - - - Experience with welding 300 series stainless steel is desirable but not essential.
