AMERICAN MUNICIPAL POWER, INC. JOB DESCRIPTION This position may
be eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of remote
work and in-office reporting), with the coordination and approval
of the appropriate supervisor. The position is located in Columbus,
OH.Position Title: Electrical Engineer IReports To: Assistant Vice
President of Engineering & Major ProjectsFLSA Status: ExemptBasic
Functions: Responsible for project engineering and instituting safe
electrical operations and maintenance of all generation
assets.Essential Functions:1. Assist in operations, maintenance,
and engineering support for current and future power generation
equipment and associated systems.2. Assist in providing outage
management, support and troubleshooting for all generation
facilities.3. Provide electrical engineering support in all aspects
of projects and assignments, including:a. Power Generation and
related systems;b. Power systems protection and relays;c. Project
monitoring, coordination, and reporting;d. Proposal review and
evaluation;e. Coordination with internal departments and external
entities.f. Interconnection studies4. Work with AMP members with
their distribution system modification, upgrades, performance and
issues related to behind-the-meter generation.5. Prepare and/or
review technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems,
and technical reports to ensure that installation and operations
conform to standards.6. Assist in developing capital project
programs for new equipment and major repairs; develop budgets,
estimating labor, material, and construction costs.7. Assist in
performing data collection and reporting of Generating Availability
Data Systems (GADS) reports for all applicable generation assets.
Provide backup support for Energy Information Administration (EIA)
data submittals.8. Assist in coordinating department activities
related to North American Electrical Reliability Corporation (NERC)
compliance, maintenance, testing, reporting and tracking for all
electrical related items associated with applicable generation
assets.9. Assignments may require oversight of subcontracted
technical support teams and/or subcontracted field crews.10. Assist
with annual budgeting for electrical work at all AMP generation
sites.11. Attends and represents AMP at meetings of interest to
management.12. Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills,
& Qualifications:1. Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical
engineering. Extensive work in the field of power generation may be
considered.2. Entry level experience in engineering, or engineering
related type work. Electrical generation experience and municipal
transmission and distribution electric system experience is a plus.
Other combinations of skills and experience may be accepted.3.
Knowledge in the field of Electrical Engineering and Design for
Power industry, covering Power Generation, Transmission, Safety and
Distribution is a plus.4. Must possess excellent written and oral
communication skills.5. Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft
software; experience with AutoCAD and project planning and controls
software applications is preferred.6. Must be able to identify
complex problems and review related information to develop and
evaluate options and implement solutions. 7. Must demonstrate the
ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to
problems with little supervision. 8. Job requires being pleasant
with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative
attitude in a collaborative team environment.9. Job requires being
careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.10. Job
requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and
challenges.11. Must be willing to travel as a part of the job
