The Research Systems Senior Consultant serves a key role in the
Department of Research Information Technology's work to advance
biomedical research in the College of Medicine. Supports the full
development life cycle of health research and intervention software
and systems, overseeing and contributing design, development,
stakeholder relationship, and project management, deployment and
testing expertise to create innovative and impactful research
infrastructure. Manages a portfolio of complex initiatives that
span one or multiple lines of business. Provides project team
leadership by building and motivating team members to meet project
goals and adhere to their responsibilities and project milestones.
Responsible for successful project delivery, including full
implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or
several minor initiatives concurrently. Manages all aspects of
multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned
to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
Reports on project success criteria results, metrics, test and
deployment management activities. Participates in establishing
practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand
and mature these capabilities for the organization Works closely
with diverse stakeholders including project sponsors, users, user
experience team, and developers to gather, document, evaluate and
understand project needs. Distills needs into cogent requirements.
Designs and documents functional specifications, reconciling
competing or contrary requirements. Communicates with stakeholders
to achieve shared understanding of how completed products will
work. Creatively reconciles divergent stakeholder goals, regulatory
requirements, and environmental constraints. Collaborates with
colleagues to prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all
phases of the project. Builds, facilitates, and documents project
timelines in accordance with multiple internal and external teams
and stakeholders. Flexible with proven ability to conform to
shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and
problem-solving capabilities. Supports diverse and inclusive work
environment consistent with departmental, College, University and
Health System mission and values. Minimum Education and Experience
Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology,
or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. Required: -
- 5+ years of project management experience, including tracking
and planning projects
- Excellent experience in Agile and/or SCRUM methodologies
- Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and
presentation) and interpersonal skills
- Experience negotiating vendor contracts
- Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to
on-time, on-schedule and within budget
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC)
methodologies, including test planning, coordination and execution,
as well as programming logic and work-flow concepts -
- Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and
demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with
technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management
- Team-building skills with technical and non-technical
staff
- Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including
the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and
technology organizations Desired:
- Scrum (Master) Certification
- Experience with metrics collection and observability tools such
as Prometheus, Kibana, Elasticsearch, or Splunk
- Experience in user interface and/or user experience design
