Job Description:
EMH&T has an opportunity for a Bridge Engineer, PE to join
our Transportation Planning & Design team located in Columbus,
OH.As a Bridge Engineer, you will work collaboratively with the
project team to develop creative solutions to address client needs
and solve design and construction challenges that may arise.Our
Transportation Planning & Design projects typically involve design
or redesign of highways and roadways, interchange design, drainage
design, plan reviews, and coordination with public regulatory
agencies and utility companies. Our work includes bridges and
structures from overpass to foot path.Desired SkillsAbility to lead
design and tasks for structural efforts to support public and
private infrastructure and development, including unique and
non-standard projects.Participate in the development of contract
plans, the preparation of engineer's estimates and construction
specifications and performing field support servicesDevelop
reports/studies, specifications, plans, and designs for projects of
varying magnitude and for multiple clients. This involves
exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of
problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and
approaches.Must be able to work with consultation but limited
direction/supervision.Provides estimations of costs, personnel and
materials needed and assists in establishing completion dates and
preparing proposals. May assist with presentations to
clients.Reviews project designs and plans from junior engineers for
accuracy and completeness, including delegation of tasks as
appropriate.Assures that the project is completed within the
allocated period of time and within the budget that has been
assigned. Assures the project meets quality control and quality
assurance guidelines.Maintains liaison with individuals and units
within or outside his organization with responsibility for acting
independently on technical matters.QualificationsProfession
licensed in Ohio.Bachelors Degree (or advanced degree, MS) in Civil
Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Engineering
preferred.Design experience with reinforced concrete, prestressed
concrete, straight and curved steel beams required.Experience with
wood and masonry a plus.Prior work experience in the Civil
Engineering Industry is required, including familiarity with CAD
and design software, including: OpenRoads and OpenBridge Designer
and/or AutoCAD/Civil3D, Merlin Dash, MIDAS, AASHTO BrR, Leap
Bridge, PyWall, L-Pile.Prior structural work experience with public
transportation projects (i.e., ODOT, Municipal, and County)
including familiarity with steel and reinforced concrete designs
conforming to ODOT and AASHTO Specifications is required.Experience
with railroad structures and AREMA Specifications a plus.Bridge
inspection experience is also a plus.Experience acting as technical
lead on project of various complexity and must be able to
effectively communicate and multi-task in a team
environment.Ability to demonstrate coursework in structural
engineering and relevant career experience designing bridges,
culverts, retaining walls, foundations, and related
